A long road

This photo was capture on a drive back home late last spring. The sun was setting on the raid clouds to set up a beautiful skyline on this lonely country road. This long road represents a lot of the work we do with the kids here. Our work is deeply relational and we rely not on gimmicks and tricks, but on investment in relationships. It is a long road that we walk with each of our kids, but our hope is that one day they will walk alongside Jesus in the long road of life.

I photographed this dahlia in our flower garden under diffused light. The cloudy day allowed the light to spread evenly over the subject. Diffused light which is common on cloudy days helps to bring out full color and eliminate unwanted harsh shadows. It is especially good for photographing flowers. This composition was achieved by placing the camera below the subject on my tripod and pointing the cam at 45 degrees upward. I purposely backed off the macro to allow the green background on the RH side to include in the image.   It adds interest and color contrast.

Season for butterfly capture has arrived

I had to find something that would complement Marks butterfly image posted on the page. This image was actually captured from my video cam shot late last summer in our rock garden. ID to follow as I am not up on my butterfly ident. yet. One thing I noticed on this butterfly was the fresh moisture on the wings indicating that he just hatched and was sitting on this warm rock to dry off before flying away. Managed to get him before he flew.
